EBB Farms is a thriving chestnut orchard and tree nursery nestled in the hills of Kentucky—founded by Brad and Melanie Jones and grounded in the belief that small farms can grow big ideas.

What began in 2016 as an experiment with chestnut seedlings has evolved into a research and learning chestnut farm supporting the United Chestnuts Academy.

Meet the Team Behind the Trees

Brad Jones

Brad is the heartbeat of EBB Farms (Expect Big Bucks), guiding each season from seed to soil with care and precision. He manages the full cycle of chestnut tree production—starting in the greenhouse, moving through the nursery, and planting in both his own orchards and others across the region.

Today, EBB Farms is home to over 2,500 thriving chestnut trees spread across nearly 200 acres of Kentucky farmland. And the momentum is only growing—the orchards continue to expand and thousands of chestnut seedlings are grown in the nurseries for customers annually.

Melanie Jones

Melanie is a grower, strategist, and co-founder of United Chestnuts. She brings the long view—shaping vision, capturing stories, and turning lessons from the farm into tools other growers can use. She’s the bridge between what’s happening in the field and what’s possible across the country and a driving force behind the soon to launch United Chestnuts Academy.

What We Grow

At EBB Farms, we raise high-quality Chinese hybrid chestnut trees and harvest fresh, delicious chestnuts each fall. And, we have Sawtooth Oaks, Nuttalls and Water Oaks.

We grow and offer seedlings of known cultivars—grown from nuts harvested from premium, named chestnut seedlings. Some of our favorites include: UMCA® PQK, Eaton, Dunstan, Empire Elite, Black Satin, Stehli, Gideon, Hiram, Amy, Gellatley Sweet, Sleeping Giant, Qing, Hong Kong, Peach, Liu, Ortette, Ace, Szego, and more—each one selected for its strength, resilience, and potential to support the growing future of chestnuts in the United States.
