A Year-Round Learning Space for a Growing Industry

Built in Real Time. Grounded in the Field.

UC Academy is where we share what we have learned growing chestnuts at the EBB Farm Lab. Most of what you will find here comes straight from our own fields: the methods we use, the decisions we have gotten right, and the ones we are still working out.

The goal is simple: share what's working, what's not, and what's emerging—so you can make better calls on planning, planting, and managing chestnuts without feeling like you're starting from scratch.

Practical, honest, and built to share.

Where This Comes From

Nearly everything in the Academy starts at the EBB Farm Lab in Falls of Rough, Kentucky — the working orchard and nursery where United Chestnuts began. The methods we teach are the ones that have produced strong, healthy trees for us. Your soil, your deer pressure, and your site will shape how you adapt them. Use your own eyes as you go.

Have Methods Worth Sharing?

We are opening UC Academy to experienced growers who want to contribute content and earn a small share of the revenue. If you have learned something on your own land that other growers could use, we would like to hear from you.

What You'll Learn

Practical guidance for every stage, from the first tree to a managed, producing orchard.

UC Academy covers the decisions that actually move a chestnut operation forward: choosing a site and improving soil with perennial systems, sourcing and establishing trees, building wildlife habitat, and managing orchards for both food and sales. As the industry learns, the material grows with it—so you're working from what's current, not what was true five years ago.
