Field Notes from the Farm: A Visit to Angle Acre Farms with Scott, Tom & Amy Smith
A Family Legacy That’s Still Growing
At United Chestnuts, we believe passion is contagious. Nowhere was that more evident than during our visit to Angle Acres chestnut farm in Michigan.
Scott Smith, joined by his son Tom and daughter Amy, welcomed us into their family orchard with open arms. Brad and I (Melanie) made the trip to learn more—and we weren’t alone. We visited alongside Joel and Margaret Hubbard, two fellow growers from Georgia Chestnuts who share our deep curiosity and commitment.
What we found was something special. The Smith family didn’t just show us their trees. They shared stories, answered questions, and made us feel right at home.
Even Scott’s mom joined in, preparing a full homemade breakfast for everyone. It was hospitality at its finest—and it set the tone for the entire visit.
